'Dating a nice guy [and] he controlled everything... I can't even talk [or] order': Woman Records Entire Toxic Date with Self-Proclaimed "Nice Guy"
A woman recorded her date with a self-proclaimed "nice guy" and it is beyond just a bad time or having missed some red flags, it is boderline triggering. The video isn't much to look at, as she had the camera pointed down most of the time as not to raise alarm, but the conversation (if you can even call it that) going on between them is appalling. The man cuts her off every time she tries to speak, making her unable to get a full sentence in for the entire date. He also would constantly belittle her and degrade her. He does not even let her order her own food or drink. She tells him she loves sea food and he cuts her off and says he knows the restaurant better than her and is going to order for her. She tries to pick out a glass of wine, and he tells her he'll order her a drink that's fitting for her, because wine will be too high in calories for her… He says he "tends to know what women like" and that he is a "cut above the rest."
If the that's not enough to be repulsed by, at the end she tells him she would like to take care of her half of the bill because she has no intention on seeing him again and he throws a tantrum. She finally agrees to let him pay just to avoid him making a scene. When she goes outside to get in a car, she tells him she's just going to run over there and hop in because it's raining outside. He yells at her and says he cannot allow it because "gentlemen have to get the door."
This kind of "nice guy" horrid behavior is all too familiar to most women. If you have to tell everyone that you're a nice guy, more often than not, you are definitely not actually a nice guy. This woman was way to kind to this man during the date and many viewers think she should have been more stern with him—posting things like, "Let's normalize getting up and leaving immediately" and "Ok but the fact you went with everything without standing up for yourself…" However, you can't judge someone for their actions when you were not the one in the situation. She might have been to frightened by him to do anything but go along and hope for the date to end as fast as possible. Most people viewing the video applaud her for sharing the content, being able to recognize that this man was trying to control her, and getting out when she did.
