If you live in a neighborhood that has an HOA, then you know it comes with a big 'ole governing book of laws and bylaws, etc. If you have a healthy HOA that actually helps your community and the neighbored is happy with them, then maybe you've never even had to glance at this book. Or maybe, like many people, you have a toxic HOA that's abusive of their leadership role and drunk on power. The kind of HOA that will ticket you for personal reason and hide it under the guise of an HOA infraction. Or the kind of HOA that will fine you for something as dumb as not painting your window frames the correct color. If that is the case, then you should really dive into your HOA laws, because you might just find something that will help you out and then some.

That is exactly what allegedly happened in this Reddit post's neighborhood. Their HOA was known for having a long and evil reign of power that nobody in the neighborhood was happy about. What really was the breaking point was when they sent out an email to all residents that they had to paint the front of their homes a certain three colors that the HOA had recently chosen, and if they were not to comply they would be fined.

The residents could not believe the audacity of this HOA and in the midst of going through the bylaws to see if they could really even do that, they discovered something even better. They discovered a bylaw that said if they were to make the motion to dissolve the HOA and more than half of the residents agreed to it, then the HOA would be no more.

The word of this loophole secretly spread to all the angry neighbors, and at the next HOA meeting, they were all there and everything happened so quickly. Someone made the motion to dissolve the HOA, everyone agreed, all the neighbors in the room shouted 'AYE!' and that was that. The HOA didn't even know what hit them. When they tried to get everyone back into order, they were dismissed, because who are they to tell them what to do? They HOA does't even exist anymore. Reminds us of when these residents had to deal with this nightmare HOA!
