Food - 'We had a houseful of hungry people, and we'd paid for five pizzas, not three'

Font - Ordered pizza for my son's birthday party and was notified that my order was ready for pickup. My husband went to pick it up and was told half the order wasn't actually ready yet. Can we come back for it tomorrow?

Font - Title pretty much says it all. I ordered five pizzas with in store pickup for my son's birthday party through the pizza company's app: two cheese and one pepperoni on normal crust, and two deep dish pepperonis. I had set the order to be ready about 30 minutes into the party so that everyone would have time to arrive and get comfortable.

Font - At the expected time, I was notified that the order was ready. I told my husband and he drove the 7 minutes to the store to get the pizzas. When he arrived he was told that they were out of the deep dish pizza, but he was welcome to come back tomorrow for those.

Font - He was like, WTF, "I don't need them tomorrow; I need them now! The party is today!" The guy said there was nothing he could do. My husband replied that we had a houseful if hungry people, and we'd paid for five pizzas, not three.

Font - The guy said, "Oh you just need five pizzas? Ok here!" And gave him two sausage hot and ready pizzas (which are considerably cheaper than the deep dish which I had already paid for).

Font - My husband didn't know what else to do, so he took them. We ended up having enough pizza, and it was something for us adults to talk about while the kids were going sugar crazy, so I guess it worked out.

Font - I meant to call them the next Monday and complain, but that was thanksgiving week, and I had enough to do, so in the end I just let it go.

Smile - TL:DR Ordered pizza and was told when my husband went to pick it up that we should come back the next day for the other half of our order

Font - DnMarshall I get that the website might not have known they were out of deep dish pizza crusts, but I feel like they had to have a way to contact you about it (I mean, they notified you). That's some bulls.

Font - momnation OP This is exactly what i was going to bring up to them. My phone number and email address are associated with my order. They could have contacted me to let me know what was going on, and I would have adjusted my order. Not only that, but SOP in cases like this is to offer a refund, not offer for the customer to come back tomorrow for the rest of the food. That was just bewildering.

Font - AyTeach Here's the truth, they didn't want to do the dishes. Deep dish pizza dishes at rs are a real pain to clean. How do I know? Last time I ordered deep-dish from little and went to pick it up, they straight told me "the dishwasher hates you."

Font - 00 RiflemanLax Yeah, sounds like a dispute for your card company, assuming it was credit. Depending on the amount they can charge back the merchant or give you a small balance write off.

Font - momnation OP It's a difference of less than $10. In the end it didn't seem worth the headache. I was really stressed about his birthday party, and, apart from the pizza glitch, it went off perfectly, so overall I call it a win.

Font - thardoc I'd go back in for your two deep dishes, as far as I would be concerned the two normal ones you got were the apology. I'd still want my deep dishes.

Font - strangebone71 Deep dish pizza dough is made the previous night and put in the deep dish pans to rise throughout the day. When they run out they are just out, because it takes so long for the dough to rise. The store knowing this, should have a plan in place when it happens. I'm sure its not the first time its happened. Inexcusable, very bad service.
