There are some charismatic creatures in nature that are just so adorable and so non-threatening to humans, that we as a society can't help but to love them no matter what. And one of the MOST adorable creatures on this Earth, trumping all other critters on land or sea, is the dolphin. Everyone feels happy when they see a dolphin. They always have jolly little grins, they playfully jump out of the ocean, and they're just so darn cute.

Recently, in Brisbane, Australia, dolphins have become even more adorable because it turns out that they like us just as much as we like them. Wild dolphins who were accustomed to local dolphin-feeding tourist attractions have grown tired of the COVID restrictions that closed down most of the country for the last several years. The dolphins actually missed interacting with tourists, and as things began to open up again, started bringing offerings to the hoomans as a sign of their excitement of tourism returning!

Some dolphins brought deep sea gifts like muscle clusters, coral bits, and a happy tail flap to thank visitors for returning to their usual stomping grounds.

Although many people argued the wild animals' dependence on humanity for feeding them, the Tin Can Bay Dolphin Experience didn't just stop interacting with the dolphins altogether during the pandemic, they continued to bring food to them for the duration of their closures. So basically, the dolphins are just super excited about the return of actual tourists.

There's nothing quite like the excitement a person feels when they're up close and personal with a wild animal. Being intelligent and empathetic creatures, the dolphins can sense when their feeders are happy or excited to be around them. The tourists that come and see them are usually children or folks who have never seen a 400lbs sea mammal before and that kind of exhilaration can't be faked.

So the dolphins are stoked that their hoomans have returned. Quite frankly, I'd say that most of society is pretty happy that life has returned to some semblance of normal post-pandemic, so the dolphins are really just mirroring our relief.
Dolphins will always have a special connection with humanity. Even though they may be the ONLY wild animal that enjoys our presence, humanity is lucky to have the ocean's good boy on our side, bringing coral and other deep sea goodies as a thank you in exchange for fishy snacks.
