Sure, it would have been ideal in a normal employment arrangement to give advanced notice or to quit in person. However, this boss has been largely MIA and his erratic behavior is completely unpredictable. Given the manner in which the boss has conducted himself in the workplace, this employee has absolutely no responsibility to do any favors when quitting. The only obligation in these final arrangements is the boss cutting the employee a final check. That's all!
