Every underachiever has the same dream job: one that doesn't require them to do any work. Achieving this sort of career in doing absolutely nothing is pretty rare, but stumbling into one completely by accident is the stuff of fairytales. This is precisely what happened to u/jerichomega, who recently confessed to r/antiwork that they basically won the job lottery. After their direct manager got the boot, OP had no one to answer to and miraculously, no one has given them any work to do for several months.
Supportive redditors in the comment section responded with advice for OP, while others reminisced about similar scenarios they experienced.
“Yup all has been taken care of. I email my boss “Dave” I BCC the office admin and I send all communication to myself.” said OP.
“I’ve been sending him emails with excel reports twice a week of the employees from our department we pay. Takes me about ten minutes. That’s really all I do.” said OP.
“My coworker and myself make up an entire department in such a niche area within our company that the only reason two people are splitting a job someone who is part time could easily do is bc our department head didn’t want to lose the spot to hr. We have an understanding and try our best to remain the ‘forgotten step children’, has worked so far!” said u/1h0w4w4y.
“Same here at college. 'Supervisor' of a team of students. All I did was create schedules for the week which took 10 minutes then browse internet all day. Then started just not showing up or fudging my hours but no one ever caught on in the 3 years I did it.” said u/macetheface.
