The Fast and Furious franchise really took action movies to another level. With each movie, the classic action movie format was stretched, and each movie seems to stray farther from the sun as the writers push the envelope on plausibility. When plot is an afterthought (after copious stunts and explosions), then you're left with outrageous reality checks that don't make much sense when you really think about it. For example, why would we need to incorporate standard physical limitations in an action movie? If the writers want Dom and the gang to drive off a cliff with nothing but a grappling hook and a fighter jet to save them, then they will not only survive the crash, but will walk away without any injuries. For the Fast franchise, reality has definitely left the chat. But at what point over the course of the last 9 movies did Dominic Toretto take things way too far? Twitter answers this decade-old question in preparation for the 3-part final installment of the Fast and Furious franchise this weekend– Fast X.
