Font - About a month ago I made a lengthy post about how I was working for a large defense contractor and got an offer for a full remote job paying 90k a year. I didn't know what to do. I made a post here, everyone said to take the new job and leave on good terms.

Font - I did that, however, what a terrible, awful decision that was. Not only does the new job absolutely suck, but I'm resigning. I have no work life balance. At all. The program I support is in financial shambles. I'm also expected to travel to the office in Michigan (I live in Florida) for 3 out of the next 4 weeks. I simply cannot do that and it was never disclosed to me.

Font - I should've knew from Day 1 that this job was going to be bad. They gave me an offer without interviewing me for the specific position, I had to literally email my manager and HR questions about start my date because no one was giving me responses and had to remind them to send me my equipment.

Font - The two people I work with are out in California. They normally are up at 9 AM EST which is 6 AM their time. Now why was I put in a group thats pacific time? I do not know. My manager ALSO expects us to work 50-60 hours a week. The idea of signing off at 5 PM is completely foreign to her. I go to the gym at 5:30 every day. I do this because if I don't, my health declines drastically. She made it a point in a 1 on 1 that I need to be on training calls and working at 5 PM because of the Cal

Font - No, it's not my problem I need to alter my life schedule because you decided to pair me with people who work 3 hours behind us. I like to sign in at 7 AM and be done at 4-5 PM.

Font - I have received absolutely no guidance on processes and procedures, how to properly use the systems we have, what my job duties are, etc. I was thrown into the ocean and told to swim. I have asked for help every day on what to do and how to execute my job duties. My manager will be showing me something, and will hop off the call to take another call. It's extremely unprofessional and annoying.

Font - My coworkers aren't much help either, mostly because they're slammed with their own work. But if I ask for help, all I get is "remember when we did this before? Remember why we do this?" No, I don't, that's why I'm f*cking asking.

Font - I have not been given the proper tools to succeed. I don't blame the company as a whole for this, but when you're a Fortune 500 company, you need to do better. ****In our 1 on 1, she said that “if I were graded today, it would not be good."

Font - Tf??? Lady, I'm 4-5 weeks into this job and have yet to even get a check in or a proper training despite my pleas for help and guidance.**** So, I'm resigning Tuesday after Memorial Day and going on vacation. These people are lucky to get a notice from me on this.

Font - Word of advice: If you think you can get a better job, think hard and long. Sometimes what always glitters isn't gold. If a company shells out lots of money and luxurious benefits, take a deep dive into why they're doing that.

Font - Wittybanter19 7 hr. ago Yeah I really can't get past that part either. If it needs to be said, getting an offer without being interviewed for the job isn't indicative of how awesome you are. It's more like they're skipping it because they'll hire anyone sight unseen because people are quitting all the time.

Font - WanderThinker 2 hr. ago It's a fully remote gig where nobody checks in on me? I'll get a second job that I like and collect two paychecks till the first gig figures out I'm grifting and fires me. Given what I've read here, that may NEVER happen, which means free money.

Font - Selena B305 3 hr. ago Also, it doesn't sound like OP asked any pertinent questions about the position other than salary. Who accepts a job offer without knowing their actual work schedule, travel commitment, team or key resources primary location, list of critical duties, and daily/weekly hour commitment?

Font - In addition, onboarding I always ask about their and formal training processes and schedule. If I will have an opportunity to shadow and for how long. As well as, what critical factors will be used to determine my success with my 1st 30/60/90 days.

Font - Bull To The Moon 2 hr. ago A young person. You really need to ASK everything. Because almost nothing is volunteered. What is my work schedule? Do I need to travel? Is this job 100% remote ? I want a document of all benefits. Responsibilities, list them.

Font - Th3seViolent Delights · 47 min. ago It sounds a bit like that and also a bit like a bait and switch. What's odd to me is that they hired someone in another state for this crap role, why bother with that at all for what seems like they consider a jr position and they want this person to come into the office? So strange. Maybe a leadership or manager shake up in the time he was interviewing to time hired, everywhere is a serious mess right now imo.

Font - If you (you as in anyone reading this) like your job i seriously advise staying put right now for another year or so unless you know someone at the other company that can vouch for the team you're considering. The great resignation hosed so many companies, no one is training, people have been promoted up into vacant roles when they are horrible managers or have 0 experience, and now this push across the country to go back in office. The dust needs to settle try not to get caught up in it.
