Font - So for context I work at a bar/restaurant that's slightly higher end. Our uniform is blue jeans(no rips)/black shorts/or jean shorts and ANY style black top with no logos. I live in Arizona so it gets pretty hot running around with patio tables so some of us girls wear sports bras and shorts on occasion. Anyways I opened on

Font - occasion. Anyways I opened on Monday and was wearing baggy blue jean shorts and a black tank top tucked into said shorts. I get a 4 top of old ladies(mid 60s) on the patio and they're rude from the start. They ask for 4 waters so I bring them by and as soon as I set them down they exclaim "we didn't want ice!" Okay, I wish they would've said that beforehand but whatever it wasn't busy yet so I bring them new ones. When I come back with the new waters they say with an attitude, "where are

Font - on." I was taken aback because why would you criticize what I'm wearing when it's 100F outside? Anyways I respond with "actually I am wearing clothes, and my outfit fits within my uniform guidelines. It's amazing that I'm able to wear shorts and a tank top since I'm running around in 100 degree weather :)". From that point on they became even more rude and would side eye me the entire time they were there. I just don't understand why some old people(mostly women) make such rude comments l

Font - LilPudz 10 hr. ago My response is always a dead expression with "Sorry, what was that?" Always a kind way to tell someone to fi off.

Font - joannchilada 8 hr. ago It's honestly a really good tactic to ask someone to repeat the rude thing they said. Either they say nevermind and back down, or they DO repeat it and you have clear reason to respond.

Font - imSOsalty 14 hr. ago . The uniform where I used to work was basically a three finger tank. Deeeeeep v neck. No cardigans allowed. In the winter when it was snowing people would ask why I was 'silly' enough to wear a tank top. I would tell them I don't want to be in this either, but please complain so that I can change!!

Font - MrsCyanide OP. 14 hr. ago That sounds terrible I'm sorry :( at my work they let us wear jackets/hoodies/cardi gans as long as they're black. They should at least give you the option to purchase one with their company logo or something.

Font - b ghost 10 hr. ago. edited 10 hr. ago Was wearing an imho very appropriate dress (which I wear all the time for work) - 3/4 length sleeves, a couple inches above the knees, somewhat low cut in back but def not inappropriately so (like you can fully see the tattoo on the back of my neck but not my bra or anything) Weird old man kept going on and ON about how "skirts are so short these days".

Font - bobi2393 14 hr. ago Maybe shoot back "have you ever worked an 8 hour shift outdoors in 95° heat?" It could be taken as a little rudely confrontational, and maybe the old bitties will tut tut and talk smack about you behind your back, but it's not a firing offense if you say it with a smile, and maybe they'll reflect and realize how f'ing ridiculous and entitled their comment was.

Font - MiserableWash2473. 14 hr. ago First off it sound like you were wearing far more than you could have gotten away with! A sports bra! Those ladies are lucky! I have some big ladies and me and my girls would love to join you waiting tables in a sports bra and shorts! Plus I'm from IA where we have awful humidity I'd love a day in Arizona! Rock what you got girly! 62 Reply Share MrsCyanide OP. 14 hr. ago I was wearing far more than I normally do I was dressed for church compared to what I lik

Font - MrsCyanide OP 4 hr. ago The prices are on the high end, and we're expected to look put together. That's why I say slightly. I'm not going to reveal my place of work but if I told you then it would make sense.

Font - unseenscheme 13 hr. ago Never explain yourself to these kinds. They are looking for justification for their sty beliefs. Any sort of response will feed that.

Font - Original Boat6539. 11 hr. ago Returning ice waters with no ice means no tip leave the ice waters come back with pints of tepid water from the dish pit and a pitcher of tap water you are now done with that table...let your manager know you are done with that table tell them to take it ... keep moving and never go back to that table...

Font - joannchilada This is legit Do you have management who would 8 hr. ago harrassment. support you if something like this happened again, or these same women came back? 3 Reply Share MrsCyanide OP. 4 hr. ago I do thankfully. I honestly wasn't bothered by it too much I just ignored them and informed management they were a problem table incase anything escalated. I've had situations where I was uncomfortable serving a table and management was on my side about it.
