You just sat down at a lovely restaurant with you bestie. You two have so much tea to spill, but first, you two are starving. So you get your order in quickly and try to get as much chitter-chatter out before the food arrives so you can focus on the eating. Finally, your meals are in front of you and you start to dive in. You're ready to fully embrace the endorphin rush your brain gives you for feeding yourself and providing your body with energy. Oh, but hold on, the waiter is coming. You're already two-bites in and getting ready to take your third, but wait a second. "Hey, how is everything?" Well, it's too late now to stop eating and too early to swallow without choking. You obviously can't just spit out your food, that would be gross. So you just give your server pleading eyes and a sheepish nod with a thumbs up. No time to even register their question really, you're too hungry and are now just trying to focus on swallowing.
Why does this always happen? It feels like every you're eating at a restaurant your server comes to check on you mid-bite. Is it always just a coincidence or are they out to get you? Well, according to a recent Reddit thread, they're not out to get you, but it isn't all accidental either… Turns out a lot of restaurants actually train their servers to go in for the question about 2 bites into the meal. Some servers just to it for the shear hilarity of putting someone in that situation. See what servers online had to say about it below.
