It would be inaccurate to say that I'm a fan of Willy Wonka. He is my everything. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) were my favorite movies in my childhood. I can confidently say I've watched those two movies more than any other movie in the world. Something about getting whisked away to a magical factory and proving your virtues to an eccentric capitalist really connected with me as a child, and it still does to this day.
When it was announced that heartthrob Timothée Chalamet would be the next actor to take on the titular role of Wonka, I was tentatively excited. I'm obviously stoked to be getting another Wonka movie, but I was unsure whether the Call Me By Your Name star would be able to pull off such a quirky character. Now that the trailer has come out, I'm still unsure (but nonetheless excited) about whether this will be a classic for the ages or an unfortunate moment in Timmy's career.
