Font - I need some encouragement right now, quit my job. I want to live off of my small business that was pretty successful a couple years ago but I abandoned it because I didn't think I could live off of it (didn't even try). I want to try again and I hear a lot of "you're going backwards" "don't get too comfortable at home" from family and manager ...yada yada not encouraging at all. But anyway what's your drastic life change story where everyone was against you but you did it anyway?

Font - Logical-Command +1 - 10 hr. ago Hey my brother is 20 years old, he started his business from home & his business advice is "dont have a back up plan. if u have a back up youre not believing in yourself 100%" The fact that you quit your job to focus on your business says a lot. U dont need anyone else to approve of it, you've already approved of it yourself. You got this, dont give up on your dream.

Font - A lot of people dont see past their 9-5 and it bothers them or scares them when people step out of the mold they believe to be "comfort and safety". Do what you have to do, the worst thing that can happen is your creation kills you but you only fail when you give up lol

Font - Starry Night616. 14 hr. ago. edited 37 min. ago I quit my comfy job without another one lined up. The management was toxic and it really impacted my mental health. Coworkers thought I was crazy for not finding another job first, but I hit a wall and couldn't do it anymore. I knew I had enough in savings to buy me time.

Font - I spent 4 months unemployed (treated everyday like it was my job to apply/interview). Landed a great job at a company with great culture. Best, but scariest decision I've ever made. A year later, those same coworkers text me weekly about how miserable they are.

Font - 14 hr. ago Another story. Have an acquaintance who had an investment banking job and hated it. Went back to school, got licensed and sailed his way up to captain aboard tankers. Learned Spanish along the way, met a girl in Mexico, got married, then became a real estate broker and went to work for her family selling houses to U.S. citizens and Canadians. Sounds nuts, but he did it. Lostmaltesefalcon

Font - Lostmaltesefalcon 14 hr. ago I quit a high paying corporate job to go back to grad school and start a new career path. My boss at the time almost fell out of her chair when I put in my notice. I worked like an animal and got the grad program done in 1/2 the time because life without a real paycheck is expensive.

Font - Now I help run a mid-sized company with a group of very fun people (like real teammates and friends) with much less stress, doing things I actually enjoy (work is not work). It's worth the sacrifice to find something you're good at and enjoy, but just remember that success is still dependent on hard work - it's just easier to do so when you live it and love it.

Font - meemawyeehaw · 13 hr. ago Went to nursing school at 36, did two years of prerequisites and 2 years of nursing school. Graduated when i was almost 41. I am married with two kids, lots of well-meaning people voiced their concern that i was taking on too much. And i was. But with each passing semester the concern-voicers changed their perspective. It was the hardest, craziest, best thing i've ever done! And now i'm a hospice nurse and i wouldn't change a thing!

Font - yungchickn 15 hr. ago . When I quit my job after grad school with nothing lined up and told everyone I was going freelance, didn't even have any freelance gigs at the time, most people didn't think it was a good idea and tried talking me into getting a stable job, but it's been 3 years since then and Im doing good being freelance.

Font - derickrecyles +1.5 hr. ago I walked out on a nice paying easy job I had for 10 years to start small buisness full time. When I was working and running buisness at the same time, lots of advice from people that had never even had a lemonade stand. Telling me so this and that, I ignored them. Quit my job to try it full time and not one person in my life said anything positive. They kept telling get your old job back, our not gonna make it.

Font - I didn't let the negative comments effect my ideas and the way I set things up, it just made me not tell anyone my thoughts. I didn't need anyone's validation, I believed in this and I did what I thought was the right way. That was about 15 years ago. Still going, had ups and downs but surviving and doing fine.

Font - donkeybrainz13.5 hr. ago Maybe not "drastic" since I didn't have a job before. But once I got too sick to practice medicine, I decided to breed snails. Yes, snails lol Like for fish tanks, as pets. Everyone said it was stupid, but I did it. Now everyone wants snails from me! I was able to quit my job delivering for places like Walmart, Door Dash, etc. It was quite an investment (aquariums and everything) but it has paid off! Follow your dreams!
