Oh! Oh! We know the answer to the first one - it's to hear better! Dogs have very good hearing from side to side, but not up and down because of the shapes of their ears. Interesting, right?

Sounds like nesting! The puppy is basically preparing its resting spot for the next couple of hours. Thankfully he won't have all of the bugs and squirmy things from outside, but his instincts still tell him to get rid of them!
