Font - Posted by u/MasRemlap 4 days ago Fine, don't make tea, but you'll lose the game. n Short and simple story. There's a guy who works at my place who is 50% in the office, 50% out in the factory, about the same split as myself give or take. When we're in the office we take turns to make everyone a coffee or tea (British, obviously) and he always goes to the kettle and makes himself a hot drink, nobody else. We get on well but he can be a right bastard and I started calling him out on never m

Font - Two weeks ago I took an A5 piece of paper and pinned it to the board behind my desk and drew two lines across it - two columns; Me and Danny (fake name). Every time I make him a drink I will give myself a point and every time he makes me one I'll give him a point.

Font - When he came into the office and saw it he was instantly annoyed. I was 1-0 up before he even noticed I'd put it up and he was not pleased. Since then he's constantly making me cups of tea and coffee and rubbing it in my face that he's beating me on points. I'm pretending to care about losing whilst getting an endless stream of hot drinks made for me, it's like having a secretary at work since I put this chart up. I don't think he has any idea that I'm the one winning here.

Font - busyshrew You sir, are brilliant. +2.8 hr. ago BTW is it a British thing to make others tea??? What the heckin' heck... I've worked in many offices (Canada) and everyone just makes their own (if they aren't walking in the door with a Timmys already). 13 16 Reply Share MasRemlap OP. 8 hr. ago If you step into an office environment in the UK it's pretty likely they'll have a tea round in place, no joke i probably drink 5-6 cups of tea on my usual 8-9 hour shift Reply Share ...

Font - ResolveResident118 7 hr. ago I don't think I have ever made a colleague a cup of tea or coffee in an office. Or had one made for me. I've worked in offices in the UK for ~20 years. Just make your own drink when you want one. P.S. I have got somebody a beer from the fridge but I'm not sure that counts. 10 Reply Share MasRemlap OP. 7 hr. ago. edited 6 hr. ago ●●● That's honestly the most alien thing in the world to me, but I do work in the steel industry and most of the companies I deal wit

Font - IanDOsmond +1.7 hr. ago This is some Tom Sawyer painting the fence level shit here. (If you're a Brit, you may not be familiar with Mark Twain, one of our great American 19th century authors. The book starts with Tom Sawyer getting in trouble and being punished by having to whitewash a fence. So he starts doing that, and acting like he's having the best time ever. Other kids come by and ask what he's doing, and he claims his aunt rewarded him by letting him paint the fence, but he won't l

Font - ArenSteele 6 hr. ago edited 4 hr. ago This is gamification. It's quite an effective mode of motivation these days. By making boring or menial tasks a part of some overarching scoring, achievement or game, those menial tasks become much easier to get through, you get the dopamine and serotonin hits from the "score" 3 ↓ ↑ 3 Reply Share
