That's the issue with nepotism hires — they're notorious for being under-qualified and overly entitled. This boss, Kevin, was placed in the vice president position at his parent's company. Though he has an MBA, this OP notes that he "does lack common sense, he also lacks critic[al] thinking and has no ability to follow simple instructions or understand simple explanations for things he doesn't know." What a recipe for disaster!
From the OP's telling, it seems like they spent half their time at work just figuring out how to do the tasks their boss assigned. Some of these things are just baffling. This boss treats technology like he was born in the 1800s — he genuinely doesn't know how to reply to an email, and he doesn't understand signing into a computer with an ID. So when he assigns his employee to do something, this employee is left utterly confused.
