Font - I worked at a burger joint back then. I was working through college at the time. This restaurant was brand new and the building was only finished being built 6 months ago. From day one there were electrical problems with the walk in freezer. This one is the size of most living rooms. Once we even had to throw out all the meat and close for a week for repairs and to replace the stock. Kinda bad for a burger joint to only serve salad you know.

Font - Most of the time I was the bar keep, but sometimes the waiters needed help. This was a day I was helping them as the bar was slow. I see a customer in his 40's, whom I will call Ken from here on out and his son who was maybe ten years old. I take their orders and at first everything is normal. I go get their drinks and put the order in. I come back and he asks me if he could go in back with his son because he wanted to show off the custom freezer that he installed with his company. He eve

Font - I told Ken no. It was not only a health code violation but also a huge safety issue. He got absolutely angry. He argued that he knew that kitchen better than anyone there. He himself wired the freezer and his company installed it. Son was looking embarrassed. He even asked his dad to stop and he didn't need to see it. Ken berated the kid asking if he was proud of his dad and the restaurant equipment/electric company he owned.

Font - I told him I would go ask the manager just to make him happy. I wasn't going to ask. I knew the answer. I went to the back for about two minutes and ran a load of dishes for the dish guy while I waited on Ken and Son's food. The food came out and I took it to them, and told Ken the manager said no. Most people would be okay with that. He demanded to speak to the manager himself. Cue malicious compliance.

Font - Little did Ken know that I had overheard my manager who also was the owner saying he was going to sue the company that installed the freezer, but he was having trouble finding out who the owner was so he could have the lawyer address the letter to him. My boss had lost thousands of dollars because of the freezer being incorrectly installed. It passed building and the initial health inspections because the wiring issue was not visible and it held temperature on the inspection day. Oh was b

Font - when I told him the owner of that freezer installation company was right outside eating a burger. He and I walked out and I introduced Ken as the owner of the company that installed the freezer. Manger put on a big customer service smile. The kind that secretly says screw you. He says he is so happy with the new restaurant, but he needed the owner's card in case there was a issue with the brand new freezer.

Font - Ken happily gives manager his personal card with his personal cell and email. Boss smiles with a real one this time and says thank you. Now my lawyer will be in contact with you soon for the incorrectly installed freezer.

Font - Ken just has a mouth hanging open. Before he can say anything manger tells him he had two new electricians look at it because no one at his office would help him, so he knows it was the freezer and he knows it was his shotty job that cause him thousands in monetary loss. He also adds that if he attempts to leave without paying he will be arrested because now the manager has his name and phone number. Manager/owner close to $50,000 in damages. did sue and won

Font - Edit: there wer permits for the install. It was just all under his office name and various employees with the office phone number given. Manager/owner did try calling them first but always got the run around.

Font - yParticle Well, that backfired spectacularly. Very expensive burger and his son was probably not impressed.

Font - SaneIsOverrated. Lol imagine feeling the need to brag and impress your 10yo kid. Get em the latest Pokémon game and you're the cool dad for at least a year.

Font - MLXIII ...how is there no record of who did what? I thought the government loved details.

Font - soayherder If the dude claimed to have pulled permits but didn't actually pull permits, it could be hard to find the info. I used to know some people in code enforcement and the stories they had were something.

Font - 4-01 the-quibbler You don't win friends with salad.

Font - Mister_Grime I'll bet Ken's son was so proud of his dad! Not to mention the whole 'get out of jail free' card he now possessed, since dad lost his college fund.

Product - DrJulian Bashir You might say that compliance was... ice cold.

Font - Coffee-n-chardonnay. Ugh the other worse part is the dad asking if the son isn't proud. Don't have kids if you need to seek their approval or get angry if they don't respond positively to your insecurities. 10 Reply Share FlashyCow1 OP. I imagine he was proud of his dad in some degree. He was just a bit embarrassed in a typical kid fashion before the owner came to talk to him.

Smile - BobsUrUncle303 How much of that 50K did the owner give you as a bonus because you found the owner for him?

Font - FlashyCow1 OP. He couldn't legally give any of it to me. However I got free lunch to "test" specials on every shift from then on.

Font - e-wrecked Am I the only one who thinks its kind of sty of OP to first ignore the request of this dude just to avoid a situation instead of going right to Plan B and tell the manager about the guy he's been looking for? 44 AxcelZ3r0.
