Font - Posted by u/Node_Control 7 hours ago Piece of crOsoftware is stealing our hours My job decided to shift to a new software that shows our work orders and also let's us log our time. Our previous software didn't really have anything wrong with it, but I guess employees who do office work were running into issues.

Font - But now we've changed to this (obviously cheaper) new software that has horrendous user interface. But that's not the real problem. I started noticing that my pay checks seemed a little off. So I started looking back over my logged hours, and without fail, almost every day, the software would just delete my time for a whole job that we completed. That adds up over a whole week. One time, it didn't even keep my hours for two whole days. It was logging the hours, but it wasn't registering??

Font - I talked to some other employees in the field and they said they too are losing hours, and they seem quite upset about it. But when I talked to management, they put the ball back in my court and said I just need to make sure I'm checking my hours at the end of the day. So far, I have not heard any plans to resolve this issue and it's quite infuriating. So now I have to write down my time the old fashioned way every day.

Font - EDIT: I do wanna mention that my manager is putting my time back in the system, but I still think it is unprofessional and frustrating to have to text my manager every morning and say, "Hey I'm missing X amount of hours from yesterday. Please add that in. Thanks." But also, they're super busy, so I don't know if I can trust that they're putting in all my hours every time I mention it. So I still have to go over my whole week and do that math.

Font - TLDR: New cry software randomly deletes hours and management acts like they can't do anything about it.

Font - Musikaravaa. 7 hr. ago Assuming USA, sounds like you better talk to the department of labor. You need to track your own worked hours though. Make meticulous notes. Download all your paystubs from before the software change. This is called wage theft and they can use a different clock if it's stealing your money. 1.1k Reply Share ●●●

Font - The LazyAssHole. 6 hr. ago To add to this, while you are responsible for logging your own hours, your employer has the ultimate responsibility of ensuring that you're paid for all hours worked. The way the laws are written, even if you refuse to do a timesheet, your employer still has responsibility to pay you for all hours worked. Granted, if you refuse to do a part of your job, it'll probably be your last paycheck. 268 Reply Share

Font - rtroth2946 · 7 hr. ago All software of this nature will have an activity log, or transaction log of all changes made to each and every WO, therefore the application admin can pull the transaction log or activity log and show what was done and by whom. If your inputs are indeed not being recorded it is a bug in the system and they need to fix it, I would also press about back pay. If they push back on the back pay, I would start taking screenshots and logs of all inputs of hours worked and

Font - Best-Structure62 · 7 hr. ago A formal wage and hour complaint with your local Labor Commissioner will change managements mind Reply Share 48 DonNemo 6 hr. ago . Yeah, report it. Even if it's unintentional, this is still wage theft. Have all your coworkers report it as well. 33 Reply Share Node_Control OP 5 hr. ago Absolutely. I know I've lost money in the past when I thought I could trust the software. This is a pretty big bug to ignore.

Font - Ceilibeag 6 hr. ago Always keep a work diary and keep track of your hours; that protects you from any form of wage theft - purposeful or accidental. And as many other posters have written, report this to your local Labor Board. 10 Reply Share

Font - . The Quicktrigger 6 hr. ago Sounds like time theft. Can't expect management to care about a money error in their favor. Gotta document and take it to the DoL. I've worked a few places where the time system was sy by design to try and cut labor corners 8 Reply Share

Font - Quiet___Lad 5 hr. ago idle Remember, HR is not your friend. HR cares only about protecting the company from risk. In this case, the company IS AT RISK. Specifically, not paying fully wages owed is illegal, and can result in government fines. If desired, reach out to HR, provide proof, and ask them for assistance. 7 ↓ Reply Share

Font - SuperNa7uraL- 6 hr. ago I don't how you guys don't immediately let management know that they're shaving hours from your pay. I see these kinds of posts too often where they say it's been like weeks or months....what should I do? Fog let them know you're not going to go along with not getting paid correctly and that you need it fixed immediately. Reply Share 5

Font - Node_Control OP - 5 hr. ago So I didn't realize it was happening because I initially trusted the software, but as soon as we took notice, we've been very vocal about it. The problem is (and I didn't previously mention this) that the software change was a decision made by the owner of the company. So the manager really is sort of powerless as far as I know Reply Share 7
