Money matters. Whether you're a blue collar tradesman, a desk jockey, a white collar C-level boss, or a preschool teacher, we all need to get cash in order to live our lives. It's an unfortunate truth, but an unyielding one. Anyone who has a job these days has felt the hot breath of capitalism breathing down their necks for quite some time now, but recently, a lot of employees are feeling the added pressure of inflation and rising grocery costs. It's not uncommon for loyal employees to consider leaving a company they've been with for years simply because managers won't hear them out on a raise.
We all gotta live, right?
However, some bosses simply don't recognize or respect the financial changes going on in their employee's lives, continuing to act like $7.25 is an acceptable/livable minimum wage. Well, here's a PSA for all of the 1%er bosses out there who don't know what it's like down here in the working class– it's not enough.
In this story, one woman was a star accountant and had been told time and time again that she was an irreplaceable asset for the company. Unfortunately her wages didn't reflect exactly how 'irreplaceable' she was. For 2.5 years, she was a devoted employee and kept listening to her boss's promises, but finally got fed up with waiting and found her own way up the ladder.
