Fence Friends Fritz and Trapper Wholesomely Guilt Pawrents into Installing Dog Door Between Yards

Sometimes, the sweetest yet most tortuous friendships are formed between neighborhood dogs who get to hang out every day through a fence. They become best buds simply due to proximity, but still long to be able to wrestle around without a fence dividing them.

Growing up, my Pitbull Millie became best friends with my neighbor's Australian Shepherd Auggie. Millie had more toys than she knew what to do with (she was properly spoiled), so she used to take her toys outside and find a weak spot in the fence to push her toys over for Auggie to play with. She'd push him over a tennis ball, and they'd run back and forth along the chain-link fence until they were worn out.

These pups have a similar BFF origin story, but they are living out their doggo dreams thanks to their owners' decision to make them a BFF door.

Tired of seeing their poor neighbor Trapper the Golden Retriever look longingly under their fence (cue the Sarah McLachlan music), they finally convinced their neighbors to install a dog door so the two besties could hang out.

The door can be latched, so they can only hang out under mom and dad's supervision, but it's so much better than their previous situation.

Just seeing these two pups' excitement when that door gets opened is enough to melt your heart. Their pawrents definitely made the right move. Wishing many more playdates to the cutest pair of pups, Fritz and Trapper!
