If you mind the cold, put on something warm M Long time lurker, first time poster. Obligatory on mobile and bad formatting disclaimer (also, this is going to be a long ride, so fasten your seatbelts). TL:DR at the bottom. This MC happened during our first year of high school (in my country, high school is for kids aged 15-19Y).

Backstory (important): At the beginning of the year, we all got thrown into a very different environment than we were used to. Teachers got a lot stricter, grades dropped and we didn't know anyone there. This story in particular is about our PE teacher, whom I shall call Coach Carter for the rest of the story.

So, at the beginning of the year, us boys from classes 1-A and 1-B got assigned CC as our PE teacher. CC was a very fine lad, fine to work with and relatively chill. The problem was, that he was obsessed with running. So much so, that basically every lesson we had, we spent running around the city in circles.

At first, we did not mind, but it got very chilly in October (northern Europe can get quite cold in late Autumn). The temperature dropped to about 5°C and kept dropping, so running around the city in just a T-shirt and shorts was very uncomfortable. So, we asked our teacher, if we could just stay in the gym and play some sports instead. Of course we couldn't. Instead, he told us to "put on something warm, if we were cold", or something along those lines (I do not know, how to tranlate his exact

MC time: The next week, the twins (twin guys) in my class were very excited before the PE lesson. When we were all changing to our PE kits, they pulled russian ushankas, mittens and winter jackets from their bags and went running like that. The teacher wasn't amused, but stood up to his words and let them run like that.

The next lesson, more people brought winter gear. Then even more, then even more... you get my point. About 5 lessons later, almost the whole 2 classes were in full winter clothing. It took us all good 10 minutes to get changed, and we were all running at the speed of a disabled snail. I suppose the sight of us running was extremely hilarious as well - a teacher in the front in a T-shirt and shorts, and 10 meters behind him 20-ish sweaty kids in full winter gear, looking like they were about to

All the fun ended when one guy brought a snowboard and a helmet to school, while one other guy brought snowshoes. Coach Carter finally told us he'd had enought of our and that he'd seen our point. We ended up excercising in the gym until late spring next year. Probably the best experience from our highschool life, which also brought us guys very close together.

TL:DR Coach Carter told us to stop whinning and just put on something warm to combat the cold. We did just that, which made us unable to excercise and made us look absolutely hilarious. After that, we got what we wanted all along.

Drewtopia_1 Was it snowing any of those days 29 Reply Share BigusSpekus OP A few times in early November. But we were already (well, most of us) running in winter clothes at that time, so it didn't really matter much (except to the few in shorts).

pythonwriter99 I have a similar MC story. Where I live, it can snow in July and no one should be surprised. One time I had underestimated the cold (as we'd just gotten a chinook). I went out in a very light fleece, and my CC said that I didn't have to run that day, I'm betting because I was being super uncooperative. He said that I needed to bring a jacket

to run the next day. I went full MC. I wore only a hoodie (which was part of our gym strip) and when he told me to run, I just said "but I need a jacket to run." That whole week I stood in the edge of frostbite, and refused to wear a jacket even when it was snowing. They couldn't call on me because I was just following instructions, and was properly wearing my PE clothes anyway. We all have Coach Carter characters in our lives, huh?

RollinThundaga As someone with a bit of running experience, that's not good for the lungs. While 55 F (about 13 C) is ideal for running, once you start to get below that, the cold air does not so nice things to your lungs.

Moreover, you all ended up pulling a sweat in that weather, dressed as you were. If it were any colder you would have a high risk of getting sick from the sweat cooling your body too much. Basically, that coach was starting to endanger the students, in mild sense. Good for him that he knocked it off before the entire class started taking days off.

BigusSpekus OP I never actually thought about it like that. that's actually really bad. I suppose CC just didn't know, he definitely didn't mean any harm.

aard_fi Our PE teacher used to say "there's no bad weather, only badly dressed people" 23 Reply Share BigusSpekus OP Then we were definitely dressed-up for anything the weathet could throw at us.
