r/antiwork. 5 hr. ago Toastedpossum Left my job today Sorry about the censoring work. Pink is the owner, blue is the manager- according to her, at least- and green is the name of our gym. I worked at a gym for almost a year now. Loved it with my whole heart. Worked hard, did whatever anyone needed. Refused to dig out of a toilet with my hands and was told I needed to care more.

Recently got called "the biggest here" by her in front of customers AND the owner and he didn't say a thing to her. I just don't really think I can stomach to see anyone there again so I left this note. I'm worried I might have been an for bailing like this and not giving two weeks.

11 Feb 2024 This is my resignation letter. The original plan was to give you my two weeks closer to the end of February to provide you with ample time to find a replacement, but due to recent events I have decided to relinquish my employment effective immediately. Never have I had a "manager" - if that's what actually is?- insult me so brazenly before a boss who simply refused to defend his employee. When told me we needed to have a meeting during my shift on Tuesday, thus ensuring I am present,

Tallguy71 4h ago Most people are unfit to run a business...or be a manager or boss. Leave them hanging and focus on your own wellbeing and future is more wise. Ⓒ 4 406 Reply 1 Share aversus_fromspace Haha... Unfit...cause it's a gym I'll see myself out 41 ↓ 2h ago Reply ↑ Share

Raven_Writing Good for you. Letters like these are more of the sender than the recipient, but I'm glad you were brave to say your piece and remove yourself from the situation. On to better! 4 114 ↓ 4h ago . Reply Awkwardpanda75 It's cathartic. 41 ↓ Share 15m ago Reply ↑ Share :

Yeah, you gotta keep the bombshell for the end. Make them read the whole thing, then throw in "oh, by the way, I quit" somewhere aroundt the end. 41 ↓ Reply ↑ Share ...

Vhman123 ● 4h ago Glad you walked away. That's the healthy thing to do. You owe them nothing. Letters rarely make any difference, except to the writer. Not all jobs have management. I've learned over the years to walk away when I see this. Go find a job that appreciates you and not abusive. 437 ↓ Reply ↑ Share

lankaxhandle • 4h ago There is too much emotion in this. They will chalk it up to a one time incident and move on. They're obviously people and any thought they have is irrelevant. 1h ago You got it off your chest and that's the only thing that matters. Best case, good things come of it, if not...oh well. EFF File Representative51 3h ago ● Is there an HR department you can also send this too? An office you can talk to and ask for someone to look into this toxic work place environment so other staff members aren't treated the same? 41 ↓ Reply ↑ Share Toastedpossum OP 3h ago Unfortunately it's a small business with the owner and like, five people 41 ↓ Reply ↑ Share + More replies No-Two79 3h ago idle ● Maybe send it up the corporate chain, if it's a franchise. Awkwardpanda75 16m ago Good for you!! I did the same two Saturdays ago when I was heading to the hospital with an illness and was told I had to call down the list of employees and find my replacement. I worked there for 5 years and called off 3 times. Once when I was in the hospital getting a transfusion. Since I went scorched earth, the shop is imploding. They didn't deserve you. Sadly, they'll hire and abuse the next person; be glad you got out. We teach people how to treat us. Fist bump in so

RandelIX 2h ago Good for you, I had to send a letter similar to this at one of my previous jobs, nothing was done about it - managers switched and the new manager started to micromanage me - a single person department where I ran it by my self for 6 years previous to her being here, she was a bully. My finally straw was when she tried to implement work quotas on me. I worked on my own doing 20,000 piece orders on my own. Never missed a deadline and never once did any one try to put a daily quota
