All too often, management decisions are made on the basis of needing something to do or a desire to meddle with something for the sake of having something to meddle with. Sometimes, these silly little projects end in cost-cutting measures, resulting in you being out of your silly little job. Of course, despite your newly awarded unemployment status, business continuity must still be maintained (so why are they getting rid of you in the first place?). These types of decisions almost always follow the sale and acquisition of a company by new owners who have no emotional attachment to their workforce and no understanding of the understated efforts of the workers who made the company successful in the first place.
At this point, you're probably going to be asked to do the impossible task of teaching someone cheaper—probably with less to little to no experience—how to do your job. At that point it's up to you how you want to proceed…
