So I met this guy at a really cool, unique bar. It's something between a bar and a cafe, with sexy red lights and greenery all around. We had some drinks, talked a lot about our lives and literature, then we went to this free exhibition his friend was putting on. It was in an inconspicuous place, very secluded. We entered a door and it's a small, dark room and there's ambient music and moving images on the walls. We were there alone, just watching everything and it felt so magical.

When we left, we sat on the roof of this building for a long time talking and looking at art on his phone. Then we went to get burgers at 2 in the morning and realized we had been hanging out for 8 hours. It was an instant connection and one of the best dates I've ever had for it's serendipitous beauty and chemistry. I fell in love with him that night.

My favorite date was my first date with my now fiance. We had a perfectly normal date - we went to a bar to eat some pizza, get to know each other, and dance. The energy between us was electric. We danced, then went to a quiet place to talk until early in the morning.

The perfect date doesn't have to be roller coasters or fancy wine. The energy and the person can make a date the best date ever.

One of my favorite dates was when I took my boyfriend (of only a couple of months) to a showing of 'Little Shop of Horrors' at a local theater. It's one of my favorite musicals, and movies, ever so I had high hopes that he would enjoy it but was not counting my chickens.

This was also a double date with one of my best friends and her wife, so I was looking for their approval on my partner as well. Anyway, not only did he love the movie, but he later downloaded all of the songs onto his phone. And I got the best friend stamp of approval. We had such an amazing time... and we're still going strong a year later.

One of my favorite dates with my now husband was maybe our fourth or fifth date. He invited me over to his house and cooked one of my favorite meals, which I knew was a big deal for him because he is not much of a cook.

We ate (he nailed it), drank wine, laughed, and talked. Then we sat on his bed and played PlayStation for hours, which to this day is one of our favorite activities to do together.

My favorite date was when my boyfriend and I went to an art exhibition in a really cool hotel. All the rooms were transformed, and they all had themes.

We got lost in the creative space and had fun with the interactive pieces. We then had a tasty cocktail in the hotel lobby, walked home in the warm summer breeze, and shortly after, said I love you for the first time.

It was many years ago, but one of the best dates I've ever had. He picked me up, we drove to the beach and just sat on the sand kissing, people watching, talking, and laughing.

It wasn't that we were doing something so special, but we had a real magic and everything felt new and novel. Then we went to dinner at a cute vegan place, we both got a 'meatball' sandwich, which was extremely messy and not very tasteful for a first date, but that's what made it all the better.
