Many around the world would agree that the USA is a special place, but the reasons for that would differ wildly. To many Americans, it's nothing short of the greatest place on Earth, but to those outside of the 50 states, it can be a very different scenario. No country is perfect, but thanks to its cultural dominance the US tends to be imperfect a lot louder than anywhere else.
This means that many people from elsewhere can form some pretty strong opinions about it, even if they've never visited. This was the overarching conclusion of a recent Twitter thread, which asked about the American behaviors that people from outside the country found strange. While it might be true to protest 'not all Americans', these stereotypes remain strong. It can be hard to realize the difference when you live in it, but a thread like this is a good way to start.
