"She demanded I leave the door unlocked"

New cleaning lady made it a point that she will not clean unless I'm NOT home
  • 03
Saw someone post a cleaning lady post on Facebook, and I am in need of some spring cleaning.
  • 04
I added her as a friend and told her I was looking for some spring cleaning. She said that she can come over today and I told her I would be home around 5PM.
  • 05
She said "sorry I don't clean while people are at home" and I said I would be leaving shortly after but wanted to meet her and show her what exactly I wanted done.
  • 06
She said I can leave her a list and she'll do it. Isn't this shady? Just leave my door unlocked for a random person to show up and clean? Like I said I never even met her before.
  • 07
I get that she's probably thinking about her safety as well, but I'll still need to see her to pay her. Idk.

also certain this is a real person, they have a lot of mutual friends and photos and are clearly tagged

Interesting-Risk‑676 · 11 hr. ago Cleaner, here. It is nice to clean when no one is home, but I would never want to clean a house where I've never met the owner. And I never clean without an initial walkthrough. This is very sketchy.

    • Kayiko_Okami · 10 hr. ago My mom does cleaning. She doesn't care if a person is home or not. Yes, it's easier if they aren't. But she'd rather them be home if she's just starting for them.

Ambitious_Clock_8212. 6 hr. ago I have had the same team for months. I welcome them in, point out any specific issues, then hang out on the patio with my dog to stay out of their way. Works well for all.

whatsthataboutguy. 5 hr. ago Shady person here... I prefer it when people are not around; it is much easier to complete my shady business without meeting anyone.

thequiltedgiraffe · 10 hr. ago As someone who used to clean houses, it can be a little awkward to clean when clients are home, but the vast majority of them are respectful and didn't get in our way. I would have never dreamed

of telling someone they couldn't be in their own home even if they were in our way the entire time. As a consumer, I'm usually home when my cleaners are here, but I tuck myself away in a room they don't clean. They're also okay with

cleaning when I have to run errands or what have you, but if they weren't okay with me being there I'd have issues. I would find a new cleaner if I were you

EviLilMonkey ⚫ 11 hr. ago Yes, this seems shady, almost like they want your schedule so they know when you aren't home. While I knew one cleaning person who also refused to clean when

the owner was home, she would do the initial meeting and walkthroughs in their home with the owner(s). Personally, I would avoid this person, softly, now. "Thank you, but your services are no longer required."

AdversarialAdversary 8 hr. ago I cannot even fathom trusting a person to be in my home by themselves that I have never even met once in person. Even if they're a friend of someone I do know and trust, that is not going to fly.

    • yadawhooshblah · 10 hr. ago NOPE! Someone else will take the job. Also, NOPE! She'll be listing your home for rent on Marketplace in no time.

nobleland_mermaid 7 hr. ago • Yeah she's either doing this, stealing or planning to send someone else to steal (the door was open and the room was ransacked when I got there, i have no idea what
  • 21
happened!), or - and imo most likely - she's sending/bringing someone else who shouldn't be working, like her kids.

    • Fit-Meringue2118 · 6 hr. ago I think it's def the latter, because I see that a lot. It's much of the reason I won't change my cleaning lady, who I'm not always thrilled with-but she's trustworthy, professional, and good with my dog, so she worth it.

Greenpoint1975 . 10 hr. ago Met a house cleaner on social media. She doesn't want to meet you. She wants you to leave the door open to your house and for you to leave..........Good luck with that.

__kmoney__.11 hr. ago I don't have my cleaning lady come unless I'm home. That's a big red flag and I'd search for someone else.
