Managers and bosses of Reddit, what is the worst kind of employee?
  • 03
anewhigh The ones that bend every rule so they're not technically doing anything wrong but still everyone off.
  • 04
Zarrrrrrrrrrrr Our employees work unsupervised for about 90% of their day, so in my case, the ones who won't contact me when they need help or if something's going wrong. I'm here to help! I'm always happy to be asked for a hand with something, and if you make a mistake I won't be upset if you just call and explain what happened so
  • 05
we can fix it together. What I absolutely despise, however, is finding out hours too late that you got lost and/or made a ton of big mistakes. because you couldn't be bothered to call for help, and you've clients as a result. off the

batting_1000 The employee that ALWAYS has a problem with their schedule. Employee: I'm scheduled 2pm-10pm Wednesday but I can't work. Can Billy work 2- 2:30, then I'll come in and work 2:30-5:30, then Susanne work 5:30-6:15 and I come back to work 6:15- 8:00? I'll then trade with Amy who will work 8:00-
  • 07
10:00 that night but I'll work for her the next morning from 8:00-8:30 and then from 2:45-3:45 to make up for it. Also, I can't work Saturday because I have a wedding, so can I trade with Trudy for Sunday but only half the shift? Me: You do know you can ask for days off, right?

papabearmatty "Hey sorry I was running late getting in " "Oh the line at the bank was crazy... then I had to go to the post office and still needed to go get food... I was starving! Didnt even have time for breakfast because I was running late, sorry I was gone so long" "A
  • 09
bunch of my friends are all meeting at xyz and they will be waiting on me so I have to go early" "How come I never get overtime??"
  • 10
karnoculars This will sound strange, but I cannot stand staff that try their hardest to look super busy all the time, and never hesitate to let you know how busy they are. They wear their busyness as a badge of honor and it's like pulling teeth trying to get them to do anything that's not already "on their plate".
  • 11
It doesn't help that these people, in my experience, are the type of people that I suspect are always busy because they are simply slow at their job.
  • 12
marathon_girl Family. The sense of entitlement, being "above the rules", lack of responsibility. I cannot comprehend how people. can continuously hire their family members when they are so inept at their jobs.
  • 13
kinder_teach "I think i know more than you so I'm going to ignore your advice" Later "Look, that thing you advised me on which i ignored is going badly, this is clearly the fault with management. they have no idea"
  • 14
Jaybiddy5 The ones that think they cannot get terminated.
  • 15
Bluestripedshirt The unteachable ones. I can work with incompetence, but not if they aren't willing to get better.
  • 16
[deleted] The kind that constantly have to be told to do their job. I manage a restaurant, and we have one particular host. This is me when she's there, at least fifty times a day. "Vicky, there's people at the door." "Hey Vicky, go seat those people." "Where's Vicky?" "Yo Vicky, see those people?"
  • 17
She's just a small part of the problem, which seems to be rampant. Don't want to do your job? Please, for the love of god, quit so someone who wants to be there can do it.
  • 18
[deleted] The who thinks that every little inconvenience he faces is the product of malice and/or incompetence. Doesn't matter what it is, but if something unexpected comes up that he has to deal with, SOMEONE is to blame for it. Somebody didn't do their job, or has it
  • 19
out for him or his department. And the worst part is that this kind of person is so obsessed with finding blame that he usually doesn't realize how incompetent he is. I've never met a person like this who was good at their job, they are universally useless.
  • 20
It boils down to the whole "If it smells like everywhere you go, check your shoe" concept. Another way to put it is this: If you meet an morning, you met an If you meet in the all day, you're the

[... Right now, my worst employee is the one who has to respond to everything. News flash: I don't give a . If I send out an email saying you shouldn't go through your co-worker's things (which I sent to everyone, so as not single anyone out), I'm not looking to start a debate on the finer points of privacy law, because I don't give a
  • 22
    I. I mean don't go through your co-worker's things, and that's all I mean. If I change the schedule, she has to respond with some "suggestions" on other ways to change the schedule. I don't give a I. I know there are other ways I could've arranged the schedule. I chose this way, and This is your new schedule.

slvrbullet87 Ones that call in at the last second with a sob story every other week. It becomes obvious that they are full of and just don't want to work, but since there isn't a way to prove they are lying there isn't much you can do about it.
  • 24
forman98 The ones who spend all day on Reddit.
  • 25
Best_Zyra_LAN Employees that confuse important critical feedback with personal attacks. Very few bosses will give negative feedback to their employees for and gigs, most of the time its to help the employees improve. If you cant set aside your ego and learn to be better, then move over for someone who can.
  • 26
MrMagicpants The ones who say they'll do things and then don't do them.
  • 27
Complainers with negative attitudes... it's a cancer that spreads. And... People who don't work well with others.
  • 28
You could be the most productive person on your own but actually really Because one person's attitude can effect many other people. If you drag down the entire team, you're causing a much larger problem than just sucking all on your own.
  • 29
Beatandbeating Ones who take initiative to go above and beyond on irrelevant tasks, but don't put the time and effort into mastering their core responsibilities. Prioritize, people.
  • 30
[deleted] People who think their boss's job requires being able to do every element of their job. Especially when it jumps a lot of levels. Guess what the CFO of Costco probably doesn't know how. to run a register, and you don't know how to negotiate a bond offer.
  • 31
RX8JIM The ones who call in a lot. It's understandable every once in awhile but leaving everyone else hanging
  • 32
GreasedLlama Those that feel they have mastered everything are are totally unresponsive to any type of feedback.
  • 33
R... "What's my assignment?" "Oh, I'm sorry, I thought I explained that. You're supposed to -" "No, you did, but what exactly is my assignment?" "It's all in that email. Did you read it? Was something unclear?" "I read it."
  • 34
"Okay, great. Was something unclear?" "Just tell me again." "Well, I actually have some things that need to focus on right now, but if you have any specific questions, you can feel free to ask me. I just don't have time to reexplain everything from the ground up." "Fine."
  • 35
    || Was there something else?" "What's the point of all this?" "I don't follow." "Why are we even bothering with this?" "Again, that's all explained in the email. The short version is that -"
  • 36
"Why exactly are we bothering with this?" "I'm not sure what you mean.' "It just seems pointless." "If you're telling me that your job seems pointless, then maybe we need to have a different discussion."
  • 37
    || I'll go read the email." "Thank you. Let me know if you have any questions." TL;DR: The ones who think they have everything figured out, but can't be bothered to check.
  • 38
ITworksGuys The ones that about wanting more hours yet constantly ask to go home/switch with other people. I have no idea how they think works.
  • 39
the_starship People who think that just because they feel they don't get paid enough, they shouldn't have to do the work assigned to them. Hey, sorry you got divorced and now need to make more money to pay off that new car you got +daycare and all of that other stuff, but it's no excuse to all of a sudden half-ass your job because you aren't making enough to
  • 40
make ends meet. I don't like making people work for more than it's worth, but I felt the workload was appropriate for the amount of money they were being paid. If you can't do the bare minimum, I'm going to find someone who will.
  • 41
[deleted] The worst I had would put in effort to get out of work. They would spend more energy getting out of work than the actual task at hand. Example: Needlessly making a NEW spreadsheet at their desk rather than running out and helping a customer in the same building.
  • 42
Example 2: Instead of getting information for an asset we have by getting up and walking to it, go through 3 hours of continuity from 2011 (That I made and knew they werent on there). By doing that, he neglected his other work and just didn't do it.
  • 43
allothernamesta... Employees with bad attitudes. They poison the entire work environment, making work not only for themselves but also their co-workers. Much worse than someone who is merely incompetent.
  • 44
GuTTeRaLSLaM "Hey do you want to stay an extra hour or so and help finish up?" "Oooh sorry but I can't today" I finish by myself an hour and a half later and go out for a break and guess who standing in the parking lot chit chatting with another employee.
  • 45
Then I get to hear, "man I'm tight on cash this week..." | offered you 5+ extra hours this week and you said no. You lazy piece of ...
  • 46
Username_1427 Entitled little with their egos and complaining and feel they are better than the job they asked for. The ones that are new and have it pretty easy yet always about doing the job. I helped run a staff of 200 and would never ask anyone to do something I wouldn't or
  • 47
haven't done my self, yet there's always that guy that about the job he applied for. Sorry for needing you to do what we are paying you for!!
  • 48
Glassman59 The two worst type of employees for me were those who ignored safety rules, (glass industry) and those who had a lot of absenteeism. By absenteeism I mean those who decide at last minute to have a three day weekend. I never had a problem with those people who were sick or injured. I
  • 49
held a job for an employee for 4 months while she sought medical care. I even called her in to my office to let her know her job was secure once she returned so she would have one less thing to stress her out. I could work to improve a employees attitude but if you abused those two items I'd have you out of the factory as quickly as I could. Why?
  • 50
Both of those actions have the potential to cause harm to their fellow employees. Violate safety rules and you may cause an accident which injures and possibly kills others working at that location. Absent too much and you cause the burden of covering that shift to fall onto your coworkers. What if they are so tired after that extra shift and have an accident on the way home.
  • 51
An accident at work because they get tired and distracted all because you wanted to have a extra day at the lake. I guess the way I always looked at it was like this. Screw the Company while at work and I'll take action to change your attitude. Screw your fellow worker and I'l have your out the door as fast as I can.
  • 52
Infini-Bus I become far more frustrated with employees who come in and act like they're good workers and have a big ego and stuff, but really they're slackers. They'll be all "Yes Sir" to managers but when boss turns their back they don't work or do it unprofessionally.
  • 53
Also, the people who spend more time making excuses for not meeting expectations than just doing the job. I mean when my boss is like "we need these numbers up" he wants to here "okay, this is what I'm doing in my effort to get those numbers up" not "I tried, but blah blah blah"
