Are you the type of dog lover who looks at any pooch and sighs with adoration? Are you the unconditional lover, the slobbery-handed caresser, and the eternally amazed canine admirer? If so, you're probably going to be very excited about this year's Ugliest Dog Competition.

The winner of the ‘2024 World’s Ugliest Dog' competition was just announced this weekend and you'd be surprised to learn that this goblin-like poofball (aptly named ‘Wild Thang’) has brought home the crown.

Although he faced some stiff competition, by the likes of other funny-looking rescue pups, Wild Thang has been crowned the number one ugliest dog of the year–a great honor that he's chased for nearly 5 years!

He may be called ‘ugly’, but as an unconditional lover of canines, I think he's actually quite cute. In the same way that we all secretly love the Gremlins, Wild Thang has stolen the hearts of everyone at the Animal Comedy Headquarters and despite his lack of teeth, his frizzled fro, and his flopping tongue, he's quite charming and extremely lovable.

This 8-year-old beauty started life with some troublesome diseases that made him look this way. He suffered from canine distemper, which made all of his teeth fall out, misshaping his jaw and causing his tongue to flop endlessly out of control. Despite his shortcomings, Wild Thang has capitalized on his ugliness and has proven to the world that being ugly is just a stepping stone to stealing the hearts of hoomanity with your other endearing qualities.

So for those of us dog lovers who cherish every canine's face–beautiful or otherwise–cheers to Wild Thang and his victory, serving for another 365 days as the King of the Cretins. SIGN UP FOR OUR WEEKLY NEWSLETTER FULL OF FELINE FUNNIES, A GUARANTEED HAIRBALL-FREE DOSE OF KITTY COMEDY!
