Growing up, sibling rivalries are par for the course. Some siblings strive to beat each other at sports or video games, and others make an effort to be the child with the best grades. It can be beneficial to have a sort of natural rival that pushes you to do better. However, if these rivalries are taken too seriously and too far, and if parents start taking sides and choosing favorites instead of emphasizing that each child has their own strengths and weaknesses, it can be detrimental to family relationships well beyond childhood.
It's usually considered bad form to make someone else's wedding about you. Usually, announcing your pregnancy without the bride or groom's approval, would be considered highly self-centered and insensitive. But in our story today, this was merely an act of revenge in a sibling rivalry. Like the adult version of blowing out your sibling's birthday candles as pay back for them opening your Christmas gifts, these petty actions in our story today were the result of two brothers whose rivalry was allowed to stick around, go through puberty, and grow up alongside them.
