UberEats' stakeholders want to bleed us dry? SOC I worked in a pizza joint which started advertising on UberEats. According to my boss, UberEats take a huge cut of the sale, up to 40%.
  • 03
No problems, we just increased the price on the app to compensate for that 40%. Along with handing out a menu on each UberEat order with our real, in-house delivery prices.
  • 04
We got a lot of new regular customers, originally from UberEats, ordering directly from us. I'd get a lot more tips now.

I know that my boss benefited much more than me, but truth is lamer than fiction and I'm not larping here.

The GH driver has to order it FOR them either on the phone, the restaurant's website, or in person. Also, GH has used outdated menus, with old prices and items. These problems result in errors or canceled orders.
  • 12
The resulting mistakes reflect poorly on the restaurant because the customers don't realize this order is any different than a regular GH order.

grauenwolf 16 hr. ago I don't know why any company wouldn't do that. UberEats is a luxury for most people, so they should be paying luxury prices.

glaive1976 15 hr. ago I can believe this as I have heard similar stories from places I frequent. We've all but eliminated delivery food in my house for many

reasons, but one is the way they treat the establishment, us, and our food. They be ripping off everyone, their own employees/contractors, the customer, and the restaurant.

StormRage85 15 hr. ago There are 2 takeaways in my area that I really like, one pizza place and burger joint. I ordered from JustEat and they did the same thing. They even have their own app that gives regular discount offers.

lost_in_life_34. 15 hr. ago i'm old and used to order the old way. rarely order take out but when i order it's either drive or use one of the services. i don't want to clutter up the house with dozens of menus and lots of times i have little cash around

at least with the gig workers when i order the delivery person heads out to pick up my order right away and i don't have to rely on the single delivery guy employed by the restaurant being slammed and taking a while to deliver my food
