Summer is officially in full swing. The kids are excited and the parents are, well, busier than ever. It's exciting having the little ones home for a couple months, but this also means a lot more planning is involved while school is out. Summer camp was a staple for my sister and I as kids, but if you don't have that option yet with your kids being too little, getting creative is key. There are tons of free activities that you can circulate all summer long. Teach the little ones to bike ride, even with training wheels. Order a pop-up pool for your front yard. Take them to the local zoo and explore the nature areas near your home. Find some arts and crafts to test out on a rainy day. The list of summer activities is truly endless.
Summer might be way harder on you as a parent. Kids wait all year for their summer break and we want to ensure they have the best time, even if that means being exhausted the entire time. The things I remember most from my summer breaks were taking picnics, jumping on the trampoline in our backyard, and playing computer games. Bonus points if you can pawn your kids off on another mom for a day to take them for a play date with their kids.
It might be a more rigorous schedule than you're used to, but remember, it's only for a couple months and it's the best time of year in your kids' eyes. The more you enjoy it, the more they will enjoy it. Check out our 30 mommy memes for enduring summer break.
