Superstitious Landlord Threatens to Evict Owner of a Purrfectly Precious Void Cat, Tenant Suspects Foul Play at Work

Hey, I Can Has-ers. We're about to take you back to the 1600s, where people still believe silly superstitions like "black cats are evil" - because apparently there are actually people who still believe these things! One feline pawrent of a purrfectly precious void cat (see below) recently moved into a new apartment, but after learning that they had a black cat, they said he wanted to evict him. Are you serious?

This loving cat owner took it better than we would have, as they took to the interwebz to ask if they should try to purrsuade their landlord about how cute, caring, and not at all an omen of bad luck their cat is, or if they should move out. They received a comical collection of funny comments, but some gave a cautionary warning: your cat's safety is the most important thing, and you never know what people are capable of.     Recently moved in this new apartment, but our old landlord wanted to kick us out when he found out that our cat was actually a void cat, and believed those old superstitious stuff. Should we just move out or persuade?

    Look at that purrecious little face - how could you pawssibly look at that thing and think it's evil or an omen of bad luck? All we see is a cute little face with enormous eyes. The only evil thing it does is try to steal our hooman food!

    If only we could actually do that. Our life would be so much simpler if that was still a thing. Oh well, guess we'll have to take him to court like a normal person.

    Ok Airline_9031 21 hr. ago The lease allows pets and doesnt specify 'no black cats' (which I would guess would be illegal anyway?). Tell him your pet abides by the rules of the lease and he can go burn some sage.

    My Void cat was poisoned by an anonymous superstitious neighbor. It was years ago but I carry the trauma still. Hearing about someone thinking void babies are bad luck makes me feel uneasy. Keep her safe, don't trust that landlord.

    p73376 21 hr. ago If you stay there, please be careful and never let your cat out. You don't know if the landlord's way of thinking might make him do something violent, like trying to poison the cat. One can never be too sure with crazy people. Please keep the kitty safe at all times!

    Cocobean4 22 hr. ago Sorry you're going through this. Landlord is obviously crazy, if it's not the colour of the cat it will be something else down the line. You can't reason with crazy people. I would take it as a massive red flag and look for somewhere else.

Just because they're not supposed to access your place without warning doesn't mean they won't. Break the lease but make it clear that it's through no fault of your own, get everything in writing and do it legally. Your cat is adorable.
