Instead of a bad roommate story, today we have a weird, confusing mixture of both. In this story, the culprit takes on a hybrid role of roommate-turned-landlord that ends with some missing belongings. Roommates always have the potential to turn sour on you and your living space, especially if they start having unwarranted beef with you. People are pettier than we realize, and sometimes we have to take extreme measures to remedy the situation. If this person doubles as your landlord, even more chaos ensues during a feud. After all, they have the power to determine your status as a tenant (and revoke it if they deem the situation necessary).
The woman in this story expresses that she and her roommate were always on good terms, and the roommate's family owned the building for a while until leaving it to him. She was having issues with processing a check because of her bank, so she communicated she just needed to wait for the check to clear. He said it was no problem at all. Later, she wakes up to her check from the mail having been opened on the table, along with a note that says he will evict her if she doesn't pay (despite having agreed to her late rent payment). The icing on the cake: he disposed of her belongings outside and her wallet and keys are now missing. Scroll to read the whole story.
