I'm just going to say it: I'm really glad to be out of school. And it's not that I don't love learning new things—on the contrary, it's still one of my favorite things to do. It's just that the entire school system feels outdated and obsolete to me. Not just the idea of putting children in a closed room for hours and expecting them to memorize irrelevant information, but also the textbooks those kids are supposed to learn from. These textbooks are almost always out of date, badly written, and incredibly boring.
But lately I have discovered a new genre, which is 'out of context textbook diagrams', where people post diagrams from their textbooks and you, as a viewer, are left to wonder what the original meaning behind the diagram was. For example: what was the purpose of a diagram showing a rat wearing underpants?, or why does "Figure 2.3" has a description that reads "Gub-gubs go "wooo": the relational network is completed"?
