anticipated that there might be a wait, I made sure to notify the front desk staff and they told me I would be seen soon. I then had to wait for an additional 15

minutes because the individual who was supposed to interview me apparently didn't know I was there. I was a little thrown off seeing as you would think that

they would be aware of our interview, but I figured everyone gets busy and things happen, right? I ended up hearing back from my interviewer the following Wednesday about getting the job. I was ecstatic!

Today I came in at 9 am for my orientation. I filled out all of my hiring paperwork (payroll, W-4, provided my SS card/ID, etc). I was shown around the building

Initially I was so shocked and I have yet to even reply. I gave up job opportunities for this postion and I feel like my time was wasted. How do I even go about answering this message?

IHaveSomethingToAdd ⚫ 4h ago You were fired. File for unemployment. Also search for "promissory estoppel". You could be looking at a payout here. Speak to an employment attorney.

puhskettimeabol OP • 4h ago Employment attorney sounds like money I don't have unfortunately lol. But I didn't know I could file. unemployment for something like this?

    • WesternSlug 3h ago. It's worth a shot. I had quit a factory job to work at Walmart with proof of my acceptance and they ghosted me so I applied and received unemployment.

    • plantifax 3h ago Some lawyers take cases on contingency meaning they take their fees out of the money you get when you win. It's worth a call or two!

WilhelmZoller • 5h ago . If you did in fact sign a contract, read the terms of the agreement because you may be able to hold them liable. If not, then I'm so sorry.

puhskettimeabol OP • 5h ago I suppose I could re-look over what I brought home from my orientation. Thank you for your answer. It's been a month of relentlessly looking for a job, so......seeing this was a damper. I almost don't even want to respond :(

WilhelmZoller • 5h ago Ugh...I'm very sorry you're going through this. The fact that they informed you of your termination on Indeed is really unprofessional. The job market is horrendous these days. I'm 44, experienced in my field, and I've gotten about 40 rejection letters since I've started looking again. Good luck and hang in there!

puhskettimeabol OP • 4h ago Ahhh, it was only an hour. But also no.

zackattack89 3h ago Call a lawyer if they didn't pay you. Even an hour is illegal not to pay. Nothing will come of it for you, but the company will have a small little headache to deal that will waste a little bit of their time.
