Welcome back ladies and ladies of the internet. Beyoncé really did know what she was talking about with her 2011 hit song Run the World (Girls), didn't she? We always hear narratives such as, 'it's a man's world,' and something about the patriarchy, but when we really think about it, who's the more essential part of this entire ecosystem? Back before WWII, women weren't expected to work or get an education. In fact, it was still illegal in many parts of the United States. Everything changed with the draft, and women had to 'pick themselves up by their bootstraps' and participate in the national labor market. This had everlasting effects on society, in that women these days aren't expected to be solely housewives, and not solely work full time. Women now have the double burden of having to still be involved and devoted mothers and wives, taking care of household duties, while still somehow working full-time jobs like their husband's do.
This Reddit story is about just that. This house husband doesn't mind being unemployed and spendy when it's his wife's money. He's waiting for the opportune time to follow his 'dream career path.' Well, the clock is ticking, he's not getting any younger, and the family's not getting any richer. Time to follow the path of maturity.
