While there are far more love songs than there are people in the world, they're usually only about a certain kind of love. The vast majority of love songs are about romantic love: its presence, its absence, the yearning for it. Then, there are a few songs about familial love, and how blood is sometimes thicker than water. Then there are the tunes extolling platonic love-- you've got a friend in me.
But where, I ask, are the songs about the love for our pets? I can only think of one right now-- "Martha, My Dear," written by Paul McCartney as a love song for his faithful English Sheepdog (though it was probably also about a breakup with an ex-girlfriend). But if you have a dog, play it for them. They might feel appreciated in ways that popular media usually leaves out. Or if you're musically inclined, try writing a song for your pup. Maybe these memes will inspire your verse.
