Welcome, women of the world wide web. Nowadays, most people tend to make their pregnancy announcements on social media. In the last few years, my Instagram feed has slowly filled up with old high school and college acquaintances posting blurry ultrasounds or posed pictures with their partners holding their tummies with a caption reading something like, "I can't wait to meet you in eight months!" While a bit more uncommon now, some people send out pregnancy announcements via snail mail to their family and close friends like Christmas Cards. Other, more scandalous people, prefer to make their announcements at big family events such as baby showers, birthdays, and even weddings.
The worst type of pregnancy announcement is the one that comes from the wrong person. Such was the case in our story today when a woman's sister-in-law took it upon herself to jump the gun and announce her pregnancy without her permission. Thus the pregnant couple received an influx of congratulatory messages from strangers and distant relatives before they even had the chance to tell the people they really card about.
