I adopted the least approachable cat at the shelter. He was fearful, had been there for months, and was very aggressive toward people. After eight months of patience and nurturing, he's transformed into the sweetest, most loving lap cat.

Wouldnt go on furniture or counters But after 6 months he stopped biting and a year later he owned the place. Now he eats on top of a counter we dont use and passes out on the couch next to us

He hid for 6 months and wouldn't even come out of his box when I was in the room with him and now he cries if I don't pick him up in Big Hug every morning and is constantly in my lap.

Now, she sleeps on me at night, sits by the shower door meowing for me when I shower, attempts to clean me, follows me around the house, will do these pathetic cries if she can't find me until I say something to her and then she lets out a cute excited little sound and runs to wherever I am. told her. She's also a saucy b still too half the time. But she loves me lol

She was skittish around her and our oldest for the first couple weeks, but warmed up quickly to them. Me on the other hand, I was the devil. Everytime she saw me, hiss and run. But I was patient. Anytime our young orange cat with a dye job (he's grey and white but has the brain of an orange) was getting a treat or cat nip, I made sure she got some too.

After 2 years of building up trust, she let me pet her for a second. She immediately ran away after but it was a start. This was the beginning of her slowly warming up to me, and after about 3 months of hesitant pets, one morning she just jumped up onto my lap and started yelling at me like she does with everyone else. Now she's my shadow. Every morning she's the 1st living thing in this house to greet me. She's usually the last to say good night. I always knew she was a sweetheart, and never ga

When I adopted my black cat from the shelter, they told me he didn't. like other cats. A year later I adopted the ginger, did the site swap thing and had no issue. Best buddies.

This went on for THREE YEARS, until one day the cat came out and sat on her lap while mom was watching TV. She's been a snuggle bug ever since!

We offered her some of the treats the staff gave us and she smack the out of us. It was love at first smack. Now she is so sweet and affectionate. She sometimes still throws hands with short notice but it's really been a big change in her perspective of the world since we adopted her.

Plopec87 5d ago . I did that once. There was a cage full of kittens and I took pity on the one cowering in the back. We named her baby and we barely ever saw her for a good 7 or 8 years. She'd spend the daytime under the bed and really only come out at night. She opened up in her last few years and would come out during the day. It wasn't really that she was terrified of us or anything, she just wasn't comfortable being out during the day. Just the way she was. She still had a good and loving li

    • aliceconleyx · 5d ago. Meet Mr. Grumpypaws The shelter's unofficial "CEO of Sass" He hissed at everyone, wore a permanent scowl, and had the vibe of an overworked accountant on a Monday morning. Fast forward 8 months of treats, endless patience, and unsolicited belly rub attempts... and voilà! Now, he's a full time lap warmer and purr machine. Moral of the story, even the grumpiest hearts have a soft spot.
