11-year-old Snubbed By School Competition After Winning Measly $15 Instead of Oculus VR Headset as Promised, Mother Gets Involved By Refusing to Adhere to Competition Rules

Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. We all remember being in elementary school and going door to door selling wreaths, chocolates, magazines, or any number of other items for fundraisers. Come to think of it, I don't remember any prizes back then either, but that's besides the point. It's never a good feeling when you work towards something and get nothing in return, and an even more frustrating lesson to learn when you're a kid. 

This brings us to the Reddit story. In this thread, the original poster (OP) is a woman whose son is in the 5th grade, and his school has a fundraising competition where the top prize is an Oculus VR Headset. Her son worked his butt off, and his sales were the top for the whole of the school. But when he goes to receive his prize, it's a measly $15 gift card to Dairy Queen. His mother sees his disappointment, and in outrage she goes to a teacher and says that they won't be bringing the sold items to the customers. Now, is she in the right or in the wrong?
