Welcome, merry and miserable millennials. Many of us who are lucky enough to be able to spend the holidays at our parents' house know that it is a double-edged sword. On one hand, your parents, desperate to pamper their baby who they seem to barely get enough of during the rest of the year, are likely showering you with gifts, attention, and free food. On the other hand, something about sleeping in your childhood bedroom surrounded by decorations you picked out when you were 12 years old can have you feeling some type of way. Despite years of independence and adulting, you may find yourself slipping into old patterns and behaviors you thought you abandoned long ago. You start to embody your teenage self more and more — it doesn't help that after your clothes run out, you have to wear your old high school hoodie until the laundry gets done.
