"Urgent: Immediate Action Required - Social Media and Google Reviews !
Dear [redacted]
Last year, I had issued a clear directive requesting that every staff member actively participate in boosting our company's social media presence and contributing to positive Google reviews. Despite this, participation has been unsatisfactory and has not shown the expected improvement.
Let me make this very clear: this is no longer a request, suggestion or option—it's mandatory!
From this point forward, any failure to engage regularly and consistently will result in immediate and uncompromising consequences, including severe reductions to your compensation and a potential reassessment of your position within the company.
-
02
Required Actions (Effective Immediately):
1. Social Media Engagement:
- Like all company posts across our official platforms. This is mandatory.
- Comment or Share on at least one post per week--one of the two is compulsory.
2. Platforms for Engagement:
- Interact with content on at least 4 out of 6 of the following platforms: LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter/X, Facebook (Meta), TikTok, and YouTube.
3. Google Reviews: (Extremely Important)
- Actively engage by posting good positive reviews and encourage your family members, friends and your network to do the same.
-
03
Consequences for Non-Compliance:
Failure to meet these engagement requirements will result in immediate and severe consequences.
- Reduction in Payouts: Salaries, commission, bonus & incentives will be reduced for anyone failing to meet these expectations on a regular basis.
- Withholding of Payouts: In extreme cases, payouts, including salary, may be withheld entirely until you show consistent engagement.
If you're unsure of how to engage or need support, contact the marketing department immediately. We are available to assist.
As a company, we are only as strong as the collective effort of our team. Each of us is a brand ambassador for [redacted] and it's imperative that we take ownership of our company's brand reputation and actively promote and support it.
I cannot stress enough the importance of this initiative.
Failure to comply will not be tolerated. I expect full cooperation from every [redacted] without exception.
Best regards,
[redacted]
Executive Director"

So there we have it!
This company's email is straightforward and bossy. They're begging/demanding that their employees engage with them on social media, but even if every employee was happy to do this, I could see it backfiring. Would you believe someone who was suddenly promoting their workplace on every single platform? It might come off as disingenuous, but apparently, this place's marketing team just doesn't care about that at all.

Many commenters encouraged a naming and shaming
These are deceptive business practices, after all. I've also never understood why you'd want your employees leaving reviews with their real names, or getting their family members with the same last names to do this. Anyone can instantly look up their LinkedIn page and see that they work there. Instead, why not encourage actual customers to post about their experiences?
