While my partner and I love each other very much, living together can sometimes feel more like a roommate situation than a pair of lovers sharing a space. We both have habits that get on each other's nerves. For example, I tend to leave the toothpaste without a cap after using it; he doesn't always turn the laundry inside out before drying it outside (it prevents fading)! Sometimes these little things build up and cause tension, but we also miss these usually annoying habits when we are away from each other. When he went away on a trip to visit his brother, I sort of missed picking up random clothes from the floor. When I left him for three weeks to visit my parents, he confessed that lack of socks in the bed were a sad reminder of my absence. Indeed, I cannot live with him, and I can't live without him.
