It's really not that hard to be a good neighbor. You know what you have to do? Have some empathy and realize that you are sharing not just a block, fence, or even wall with someone, you are also sharing a safe space. That's right, being a neighbor means being respectful of other people's homes and expecting them to do the same for you. If you want to be a really really great neighbor, then you're transforming into freindships territory and that is beautiful. But we are talking about just being a good neighbor. That doesn't mean you have to come trim their hedges every week for free or even follow them on social media. It just means to be aware of how your actions might affect the people also living around you. 

 

Too often, however, you find a neighbor who is just unneighborly. An entitled neighbor how thinks he deserves to do whatever he wants in and around his home, even if it is bothering others. That's usually when an HOA is supposed to come in handy, so keep those bad neighbors in line and maintain the comfortable living space. But too the HOA is even worse, but that's a different story…
