Hopefully you have a sister that has your best interest at heart. I know that for me and my sister, we just want to see the other one happy. And it would definitely concern me if I saw her making decisions that I knew would only cause her pain. Funnily enough, I have a close friend like that, and it can be very very difficult to watch them continually make mistakes.

The protagonist is in the right for not being comfortable with complete strangers coming to her in-law's lake house. First of all, like she mentioned in the thread, she doesn't even own the property. Secondly, she's never met these people! Why would women who have no relationship to her whatsoever come and stay for free? There's a saying that my friend says in times like these, “not my circus, not my monkeys.” She's just in no way obligated to deal with this, and if she dealt with it it could be a lot of work on her end.
