Intricate designs crafted to perfection can also drive up prices. Bridal gowns are very much like a piece of art. And of course, the dresses are expensive because after the wedding is over, they serve as a beautiful memento of the special day.

If she's not planning to get married any time soon, she might be planning to use the dress in some sort of artistic project as speculated above. If she intends to destroy the dress in some way, it makes sense that she would try to obscure that, as she knows that the dress has sentimental value to her sister. Very sketchy!
