This is sadly not an uncommon story for Maids of Honor; they are often expected to take on the role of a wedding planner for free by entitled brides. Our protagonist's situation also tracks with her treatment since childhood.

I'm thankful that our protagonist has someone on her side that has noticed how her family has treated her all of these years. The two should rally together on social media to disperse any rumors that the parents have spread to “save face.”

28-year-old disowned by parents for refusing to drop everything for golden child sister's wedding, turn all but one family member against her on social media: “She's seen this favoritism play out years ”
For most people, a wedding is a day-long event or even just an evening thing. However, some people turn it into a week-long celebration. This shouldn't come as a surprise if that bride-to-be tends to do an elaborate "birthweek" every year, but there are plenty of other reasons that some couples might choose to make a mini vacation out of their wedding. For example, couples choosing to have a destination wedding might want to take advantage of the exciting location. That is all well and good, but forcing guests into participating is only going to lead to RSVP cancellations.
In our story today, a young woman is pressured into taking on Maid of Honor duties for her sister's wedding. If the wedding-related labor wasn't enough, her family then expects her to take off a week from work for a pre-wedding trip. Our girlboss protagonist refuses to put her sister's "special day" above her career, and instead of being thankful for the help she's given until now, they disown her. Scroll down for all the juicy deets.
