Back when we first adopted our cat, we didn't know all the lingo. We didn't know the slang. We didn't know what the heck a cat distribution system is. But we still felt it. It still felt like the adoption was something greater, like it was written in the stars somewhere that it was meant to be, that our cat was the cat for us, and no other would do, at least not for that moment. It felt like our cat adopted us and not the other way around… because that is what it was. 

That is what the cat distribution system is. We don't know who is operating it or how it is that it is literally the best, most smoothly running system in the world, but it is. Cats adopt humans, not the other way around. It really is written in the stars somewhere, you're not just imagining the feeling. The stories that we have for you today might just be the best kind of proof for that.

  • This is what we mean when we say that it is the cat that chooses you and not the other way around. You may think that you want a kitten, but the world, the universe, the cat distribution system - they know better, and they know that the kitty that will be purrfect for you is something entirely unexpected.

    Fragile Fern @FragileFern Congratulations!!! We wanted to adopt a kitten at the start of Co id lockdown, since wfh meant we could give them lots of time. Came home with two special-needs babies, a little boy and the mom who adopted him and let him suckle with her litter. He still thinks he is her baby!

    Frances Morrighan @TelaDrin I went to the SPCA not expecting to find a winner, only to get adopted by a one-eyed stinker of a kitty. He insisted we were destined for each other. Then he helped convince a farm feral to move indoors with us & move to another state. Willy's a most persuasive fellow.

    Dan Morris @danmorris01 We met Miranda at a shelter space inside a chain pet supplies store in '09. Her former "human" gave her up, after 7yrs. We were told b/c she got married & moved out of state. Who does that to a pet after 7yrs?!?!

    The Demon Cat @thefurbeast Adopted the tuxedo boy this past year at the age of 12. He had just lost the only home he ever had. Fortunately he was only in the shelter for a week. The orange guy in back was six when I took him in. His "loving" ex-mom was going to put him on Craigslist. Sweetest cat ever.
