'Don't ever talk to me again': 17-year-old girl finds her 12-year-old stepsister reading her private journal and mocking her, 17-year-old freaks out but bio dad takes stepsister's side
I've been journaling since I was 16-years-old. My best friend, Eva, at the time was journaling, and I thought it would be a cool habit to take up. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I feel like growing up as a teenager and naturally falling into self-expression through writing is one of the best things I could have done for myself. It's not only a great and helpful way to cope through life and your own emotions, but it really helps memory too. The brain is really working to writing everything down, understand and process.
In the story below, the protagonist is a 17-year-old who also journals. It's also an outlet for her to release herself. Her family is blended. Her father remarried after her mother passed, and she has a stepmother and step-sister. She was never fond of either of them to begin with, but when she comes home to find her step-sister reading her journal out loud to another friend, it's the nail on the coffin to their relationship, and I don't blame her.
