Mom of 4-month-old baby hands out 200 goodie bags filled with candy and earplugs to passengers during 10-hour-long flight: 'It's awful that folks with babies feel compelled to apologize'

As if parents of little babies don't have enough to fret over, some parents worry deeply about their babies' behavior when traveling.

Flying on an airplane isn't exactly the best experience, but for most flyers, it's the best or only way to get to your actual destination. Maybe you're heading to a vacation, or you're traveling to see family members, and that's what you have to look forward to. Sure, you may be squished into the big tin can in the sky with 100 people for a few hours, but to make the time pass, there are dozens of things you can do. You can read a book, listen to music or a podcast, watch a YouTube video if you're brave enough to purchase the notoriously bad in-flight WiFi, or if you're with your spouse or a friend, you can have a quiet conversation. And that's assuming your flight doesn't have a built-in TV on the seat in front of you, which most of them do these days. These are loaded up with hundreds of movies and TV shows — it's nearly impossible to be bored. And if all that can't pacify you, maybe just take a nap? Flying is annoying, but as an adult, you just handle it. It's a few hours out of your long life that you'll soon forget all about once you're at your destination.

The last time I took a flight, it was a very brief trip, but this airplane was packed to the gills with families with children. It seemed like half the plane consisted of families with a mom, dad, and like 3-7 children, ranging from the ages of 10 to rowdy toddlers to little tiny infants. It was LOUD! Those toddlers were messy! These babies were unhappy! Several of the toddler could only be soothed by watching "Encanto," which their parents promptly obliged.

It was irritating to be surrounded by children, but you've got to have some empathy for people, I think. At least those kids weren't mine to care for! At least I could watch a movie without having to donate my screen to "Frozen" or "Paw Patrol;" I could eat my entire small bag of pretzels without having to share with a child. At the end of the day, adults can control their behavior, while children sometimes scream or cry or whine because they don't know how else to express themselves.

This parent made some wave online by doing a kindness to everyone else on her flight by making 200+ goodie bags! These goodie bags contained candy and earplugs, since she and her 4-month-old baby, Junwoo, were flying from Seoul to San Francisco, a 10-hour journey. The mom was apologizing in advance through these goodie bags, as you can read about below.
It's not the first time a parent has done this for a flight, and a lot of people found the gesture very sweet. It is! But the thought of a weary mother of a baby sitting down to make 200+ goodie bags is a little heartbreaking. She would've had to go to the store to purchase all these items and bags. She would've had to type up her statement, then print it 200 times and cut it out with scissors. She would've then had to assemble all these bags, load them up with the rest of her luggage (and we all know that babies need a LOT of stuff when traveling with them), and probably dedicate an entire backpack to these bags of treats for a bunch of grown adults. (Not to mention… did she do this for the return trip, too? I hope not, for her sake!)
I feel for this Mom, and it's a very kind gesture that she implemented during the flight. I hope she didn't stress too much after giving these out, and maybe other passengers were extra nice to her and Junwoo. But at the same time, if she flies again, I hope she doesn't feel pressured to do this if she doesn't want to.
