Got fired for leaving a 1 star Google review on another business

So I've been working in a fast food place for three and a half years now, and I just got fired three hours ago because I left a 1 star review on the Google page of the landscapers that are hired to "take care" of the property.

For context I started a native wildflower garden at the back door of our workplace so we can enjoy our time away from orders.

I laid down hundreds of natural sandstone blocks and put in nearly a hundred native wildflower species.

This garden I took care of was not in the way of the hired landscapers and things were good for the most part of the three years until earlier this year they stole some of my tools and when I called their business asking for them back they said they didn't have them and that

my business isn't with them, well eventually they turned around and said they did have them but returned them two months later in poor condition as if they had been trying to cut gravel in half with my limb cutters.

So left a bad review on their Google page and then the owner called me yelling asking why I was trying to hurt his business, eventually I was able to get a brand new pair of limb cutters from him after those two months.

Nothing had happened since that time in May until yesterday where they mowed down a line of trees I had planted to shade the parking lot.

They were clearly marked with a stake, cage, mulch, and some rocks. I found out about that today and so I did what I did last time, I left a one star review, no words no photos, just the one star.

And now, 15 minutes before my shift ended my manager to me aside with tears in his eyes that he had to fire me because his boss said so.

So the question is, are they legally allowed to fire me for a one star review on public forum for a business that is not their own?

Lopsided-Moose-9240 Hold up. You used your own money on this garden for work?

OP VULPES117 Yeah I gathered the stones where they fall from cliffs and I collected wildflower seeds and plants from various threatened roadsides or from other like- minded people

OP VULPES117 Tacos, but yes, and also unloaded the trucks that came in, fixed whatever machines I was able, and drove to other affiliated stores to trade product so we could still sell food
